Before I die...

Sopa de Letras

Artist:

João Varela

Local:

Casal dos Machados

Time:

Horário a definir

synopsis:

Having as main goal the experimentation and contact with several common urban art techniques, the workshops were designed to take advantage of the different techniques.

Always using typography and calligraphy as a work object, the following techniques and/or materials will be addressed: stencil, paste-up, calligraphy with plastic paint (using brushes, rollers, etc.) and spray.

Participants will be divided into small groups and introduced to one or several of the 4 techniques that can be put into practice immediately, writing or drawing letters on the surfaces to be intervened. During each period, there will be a rotation of techniques between groups.

Those enrolled will be challenged to write words or phrases that fit with the festival MURO itself and its impact on the community; however, they will be free to express themselves by writing words, ideas and thoughts of their own authorship, as well as purely experimental exercises (from a technical and/or typographic point of view) or just their signature.

The final result will be a strong and dense composition of words and/or sentences, written by all participants, so that they overlap and mix, creating a new dialogue in space
